Rudi Heinrich
Rudi Heinrich is currently assistant principal bassoon with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Rudi is also principal bassoon in the Des Moines Metro Opera Orchestra. Previous to his appointment in Milwaukee, Rudi played five seasons with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and two seasons with Louisiana Philharmonic in New Orleans. He has also appeared with the Cincinnati Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Louisville Orchestra, and the New World Symphony. Rudi has attended several summer festivals, including National Repertory Orchestra, Spoletto, and Sarasota Music Festival. In addition, he has served as adjunct faculty at the University of New Orleans, University of Toledo, and Montevallo University.
Rudi Heinrich grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he first started playing music in the public school music program. Rudi completed his senior year of high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, and then earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan where he studied with Richard Beene. He went on to work with William Winstead at the University of Cincinnati, where he received his Master’s degree.
Rudi Heinrich is happily married to his wife, Meaghan, and is the proud father of Paul Heinrich. When not playing the bassoon or wrestling with reeds, Rudi can often be found cycling, playing the accordion, or rooting for his beloved Michigan Wolverines.
